Credit card debt is a very big problem many people have, especially in the west. Many people are now paying enormous amounts in interest year after year because of their continued usage of credit cards, to finance almost everything. Though some might have landed up with credit card debt due to some unfortunate event or emergency in their life, most people carry credit card debt due to their own misuse of their credit cards.

Some of us have gotten into financial hardship due to our use of credit cards, even to the extent of having to file for bankruptcy. We hope you are motivated to eliminate any credit card debt you have once you read this article. There are some very simple rules you can use to eliminate this debt.

It is not difficult to eliminate credit card debt but it does require a change of habits, especially spending habits, you may have taken years to build. Eliminating debt is step one and keeping it paid down is a big step two, which should last the rest of your life. The key is to create a doable plan and stick to until your credit card debt is completely paid off.

You have followed the plan you made or hired a debt-repayment-service, and after some time all your credit card debt is gone. Whatever you did to eliminate the debt continue with the same habits to keep it that debt monkey off your back. Whatever you do, do not fall back into the same habits you had before debt repayment.

Do whatever it takes to keep the debt off! Be persistent, and relentless. An accountability partner could help you keep that debt off. Manage yourself internally and externally to keep the lid on accumulating that debt again. Whatever you do, don’t fool yourself into thinking that it is okay to build that debt back up again.

Most of the rules that you followed when you were trying to pay off credit card debt, will also hold good after you have paid off your credit card debt. Here is a quick synopsis of things that you should take care of even after you pay off credit card debt:

1)	Pay cash for everything, you possibly can. Your spending habits will go down considerably.

2)	Only charge when you have absolutely no other alternative.

3)	Use your credit cards like a 25 - 30 day interest free loan. Pay it off before just the finance charges kick in.

4)	Only hold as many cards as is absolutely necessary. You should not need any more than three. Hold credit cards which give you a usable benefit, such as points for travel or other necessities.

These are just very basic rules for eliminating credit card debt; you can add more based on your own experience and knowledge.

Q: What are www Freetriplescore43 com, www Freetriplescore49 com, and other web presences like those you’ve mentioned that I hear advertised on the Television and Radio. Are they somewhat like this free credit report offer?

They all appear to land me on the same web page. What is that?

A: I get such a great number of questions like this that I’ve made up a separate Q and A category called Radio and TV Ads. E.g., in addition to the web presences you’ve talked about you could mention many others that you haven’t seen or heard of yet.

In many cases these web presences are owned by Lead providers or distributors running co op advertising and rotating web presences. Also, In many cases web presences such as those you’ve mentioned are used to analyze what advertising produces what return or frequently they are used to track revenue-share deals with Television & Radio stations running the commercials.

E.g. they might assign a Television station or Radio Station to each website to see which advertising spot produces the best return.

For example:

www Freetriplescore43 com - Radio Station WBVX - Amount of leads produced: 892 www Freetriplescore49 com - Radio Station WZBY - Amount of leads produced: 322 Other web presences - Radio Station WLMU - Amount of leads produced: 404

I hope that cleared it up for you.

As identity theft becomes more prevalent, the need to regularly check your credit report is very easy to see and understand. Two big headlines in the news recently point to how closely tied your credit report and identity theft are.

First, we hear of the troubles of Choice Point, a company involved in the storage and distribution of credit information. It appears some criminals set up a fake company and used it to obtain sensitive credit information. Then in turn they used it to steal the identities of about 750 people. That number will probably grow, since more than 500,000 people across the country have been put at risk.

Second, comes the story about missing computer tapes containing credit card records of more
than 1.2 million of Bank of America cardholders. Most of the accounts belonged to federal
government employees. This has placed the account holders in danger of increased risk of
identity theft.

Both of these companies are now in the process of notifying the people of their exposure. The
truly bad part of all the problems is these leaks and losses occurred months ago. These two
companies were not very quick in notifying the people affected. Way too much damage could
have been done before they had been alerted to the trouble.

While the headlines may change, the need to check your credit report does not. You may be very careful. You may shred your documents, the credit card and other financial solicitations you
receive in the mail. You may take great care how and where you give out your financial information. Unfortunately as these stories show, it may not be enough.

Identity theft affects about 10 million victims per year. It has been estimated to cost consumers
and businesses more than 50 billion dollars a year. It is easily among the fastest growing
categories of white collar crime. You need to do all you can to fight theft of your identity.

A new law has been put on the books by the Congress to help combat the losses. It allows the
you, the consumer to request a free credit report from the credit agencies once a year. You should not hesitate to take advantage of it. However, the law has a rollout feature which does not allow full access for all Americans until September 1 of this (2005) year.

While this is a step in the right direction, in typical fashion the government continues to leave the populace exposed. You should access your credit report much more often than once a year. If an identity theft takes place just after receiving the free credit reports, an enormous amount of damage can be done before you can review your next free report.

The Federal Trade Commission has put together a list of questions and answers concerning this
new law and the effect it will have on your credit report and your risk of identity theft. They can be helpful to you in determining your rights under the law

It makes sense to check your reports regularly, as often as, on a monthly basis. This may seem a
bit much to you, but just ask a person who has had their identity stolen how much hassle it is to take your life back. They will tell you it is well worth the effort. Let’s face it, no one cares as much as you, about your credit record, and the damage that identity theft could cause in your life.

(c)2005 David Wilding

About the Author

David Wilding has for the past ten years worked with groups and individuals to rid their lives of debt.

by Darren Cason

Debt has recently replaced obesity as the number one concern of consumer advocates and politicians. Just as food companies have been vilified for wantonly distributing products full of sugar and fat, credit companies are seeing themselves under increasing fire for their underhanded tactics and wanton disregard for the public’s financial safety.

Bills have recently been considered in the House of Representatives that would regulate how credit card companies can raise their interest rates, and how low they can set the minimum monthly payments. A major credit issuer was recent flogged by the public and consumer groups for raising rates on cardholders who pay their bills on time. It’s these ridiculous practices that are finally raising the ire of politicians when it comes to credit card companies and banks.

This is just more bad news for banks, who are already caught up in the firestorm that is the mortgage and housing market fiasco, with their only recourse being to raise ATM fees, and ramping up other rates that affects everyone, whether they’re timely with their payments or not.

This has created a prickly environment for banks, who have seen their once iconic status shrivel up into dust. Even the slightly misstep is now heavily chronicled and dissected, such as the Bank of America’s recent decision to raise rates, which led to a Business Week article that opened with the tale of a 60 year old woman whose rates had nearly doubled despite her account being in good standing. Other banks like Chase and HSBC have seen similar reaction and articles to rate hikes of their own.

The increased watchfulness of politicians to this growing crisis is personified by presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who have both made credit card reform one of their primary campaign issues.

Despite this, credit card companies continue to soar, with ever-increasing networks which make it easier than ever for consumers to use their plastic at just about any outlet, and teaser rates and rewards programs accompanying massive ad campaigns to suck in new customers.

Credit card debt has become such a major issue that cosmetics giant Avon announced plans to have Suze Orman act as a personal financial adviser for any and all of their 500,000 sales reps.

With credit scores now easier to obtain, and the internet being the perfect breeding ground for discussion, more and more people are openly discussing their credit histories and possible steps they can take to minimize their current woes and eventually get out from under the mountain of climbing bills. The general consensus of course is to get rid of credit cards or loans of any type and take control of your own finances.

If there’s one shining light for financial institutions in this mess, it’s the smaller banks like Wachovia and Washington Mutual, whose focus on consumers and fair and more transparent rates has earned them the trust and loyalty of many customers. It’s been shown that the things consumers hate most are rate hikes and hidden fees buried in small print, and these banks have taken advantage of that. Too bad they’re still in the minority when it comes to offering the type of service and value we all deserve.

Angle on Freetriplescore41 & Freetriple3?

Q: What are Freetriplescore41, Freetriple3, and other websites such as these that I hear advertised on the TV and Radio. Are they similar to this free credit report offer?

I keep hitting the same web page for many of these. Can you tell me how they work?

A: I get such an incredible number of inquiries like this that I’ve made a separate Question and Answer category called Television & Radio Advertising. For instance, in addition to the websites you’ve talked about you could talk about many others that you haven’t seen or heard of yet.

In some cases these websites are used by Lead corporations or distributors running co-op advertising and rotating websites. Also, In some cases websites such as those you’ve mentioned are used to analyze what advertising creates what ROI or in many instances they are used to track revenue-share deals with TV & Radio stations running the ad spots.

For instance they might assign a TV station or Radio Station to each website to see which advertising location creates the best ROI.

 For example:

Freetriplescore41 - Radio Station WBVX - Quantity of leads produced: 250 Freetriple3 - Radio Station WZBY - Quantity of leads produced: 73 Other websites - Radio Station WLMU - Quantity of leads produced: 103

 Terrific observation. Hope we helped.

Credit card debt has become an extremely serious financial malady that affects countless individuals. Minimum monthly payments do little more than pay for the interest when both balances and interest rates are high. Using a credit card debt calculator is one method that can help you to keep your credit card debt from getting out of control.

Why Credit Card Balance Transfers Are Problematic

Some consumers transfer their credit card debt to new credit cards that offer lower interest rates, thinking that will solve their credit card problems, only to find that making a payment one day late can raise their interest rate even higher than it was with their old credit card company. By using a credit card debt calculator, consumers can take a more informed approach to managing their credit card debt.

What Do Credit Card Debt Calculators Do?

Credit card debt calculators allow you to determine the amount of time it will take you to completely pay off a purchase you are thinking about charging to your credit card account, assuming you make just the minimum monthly payment each month.

For instance, if you are thinking about buying a flat screen TV with your credit card, a credit card debt calculator may show that it will take you 20 years to pay off the TV at the minimum monthly payment.

How many of us are using the same TV now that we had 20 years ago? The credit card debt calculator will help you see that you should not use a credit card to buy a flat screen TV unless you increase your monthly payments.

You can use a credit card debt calculator to determine if the life of a purchase is equivalent to the length of time it will take to pay for it. This will help you to make smarter purchases and allow you to adjust the amount you pay the credit card company each month so that you do not end up paying for something long after you have stopped using it.

As with most methods of credit card debt eradication, the one outlined in this article will require that you completely stop charging any purchases to your nearly maxed out credit cards. If you feel that you simply can’t bring yourself to do that, the following suggestions are not going to work for you. Read on if you are determined to eradicate your credit card debt, regardless of whether or not you have to stop using your credit cards.

Many people choose to go through a cycle of incurring extensive debt on their credit cards and then not using them at all in order to eliminate their debt. Then, once their debt has been cleared, they start charging purchases again. This potentially infinite cycle will work fine as long as you are able to carefully ensure that you never cross the line and get so far into debt that you are no longer able to get out of it on your own.

Self control is the key to having good personal finances. This, though, is not a personality trait that everyone can claim to possess. Storing your credit cards away and not using them, however, is the first step of one effective method of eradicating credit card debt that you can choose to follow.

The next thing you need to do is bring all of your debt together under one loan or other means of consolidation. You can use consolidation loans or you can wipe out credit card debt by using offers from a new credit card to consolidate your debt under the new card. If you use the new card method then just be warned that you are probably setting yourself up for even more credit card debt.

Keep in mind that both having and using cash instead of paying for things with credit cards is a great help in the process of getting rid of credit card debt. Consolidating debts and then relying solely on cash for making all purchases is another viable option.

Make It a Separate World

After having consolidated your debt, you will need to set up your budget in such a way that you will be able to contribute more than the minimum payment each month towards paying off your consolidation. Find those expenses that are honestly unnecessary that you are spending money on each month and eliminate them. These might include cell phone Internet access and an extra phone. Getting rid of these money wasting expenses can be quite helpful in your efforts to completely eliminate credit card debt.

You will probably have to eat out a little less while you are working to pay off your consolidation. Remember, though, that using all the money that you possibly can to pay off your debt will be well worth it once all is said and done.

If approved, consumers could benefit from the most wide-ranging changes to the rules covering consumers and credit in decades.

One of the most important changes would be the right to receive a free annual copy of your credit report, upon request, from the three major credit reporting agencies: Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. Currently only six U.S. states offer their residents this form of consumer protection. Federal law requires that a consumer may obtain a free copy of their credit report only if they have been denied a loan or credit based upon information contained in their credit reports.

Other highlights of The Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act of 2003 include:

Regardless of what the news may tell you and leading economists may say credit in and of itself is not evil. It is the running up of credit you cannot afford to pay that gets you in trouble and this is also the kind of credit problems that the country experiences too. A deficit is when the country spends more than it has coming in and then has to extend its credit with banks in order to pay the bills. That is an extremely simplified explanation but the point is that you are not alone and everyone could use some good credit card debt advice.

Unfortunately, getting credit card debt advice that is beneficial in real world situations is not easy since many people who offer such advice have rather fanatical ideas. Anyone who suggests that people should not have or use credit cards at all simply is not being realistic. Consider the following tips that are designed to be useful in the real world.

Limit Yourself to Just One

About the best credit card debt advice you can get is if you do not already belong to a credit union then join one. Then go into your credit union and ask them for a credit card with a decent sized limit that you can use but is not outrageous.

The credit union won’t raise your limit without you asking and for the most part a credit union will keep their interest rate at around 10% or less. If you can keep your life to just this one card then you will be fine. If you need an increase then ask for it but try and use cash when you can.

Emergency Back Up

Everyone is going to get credit to buy that great stereo system, or whatever, at least once in their lives so warning against that is pointless. But if you can just use your credit as a back up and not as the main way you purchase goods and services then you will be much better off.

It gets tempting and every once in a while everyone gives in to the temptation and that is okay as long as you can afford it. But try and keep it under control and only use your credit as a back up if you can.
